Let the Magic Begin

The past few months have tested us all in many ways, but through the challenges and highlights, we’ve been learning to adjust to the new normal and find gratitude for the little things. Through it all, we’ve been counting down the days until we can continue making magic for our favorite families again, and now we are beyond excited to announce that after months of closure, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios have finally released their reopening dates. We can’t wait to begin planning some amazing stays for you and welcome you back to the most magical place on Earth!

When Are the Parks and Resorts Opening to Visitors?

  • Disney Springs – Currently Opening in Phases
  • Disney World Resort – Opening starting July 11th
  • Universal Studios – Opening Starting June 5th
Disney Springs was the first to open its doors after Orlando’s historic closing, with the first restaurants and stores opening in phases on May 20th. The World of Disney store is now open as well, and the coming weeks will see more of our favorites shopping and dining locations open back up.

Magic Kingdom Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will be opening to the public starting on July 11th, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT will begin to reopen on July 15th.

Universal Studios will be open to the public starting June 5th, and will follow many of the same operational procedures as Disney.

A New Park Experience

New safety features will include the following:

  • Reduced capacity in the parks
  • Mandatory face coverings for both guests and employees
  • Temperature checks at entrances
  • No fireworks, playgrounds, makeup experiences, or character meet & greets until further notice
While we’re confident Disney magic will still be as strong as ever, some operational procedures will be a bit different when the parks are reopened. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, Disney will be implementing health and safety checks upon entry, including temperature screenings for both cast members and guests. Guests 3 and older will need to wear face coverings in all of the theme parks and common areas of all resort areas, and sanitation standards will be highly increased in busy areas of the parks.

In addition, not all experiences will be returning to the parks right away. Events in the parks that typically draw large crowds together, like nighttime spectaculars and parades, are currently suspended until further notice. Some higher risk activities like makeovers, playgrounds, and character meet & greets will also not return until later on, but plenty of characters will be out and about in the parks to create magic for guests in other ways.

Universal Studios will be taking many of the same steps to promote health and safety within their parks. Like Disney, they’ll be opening at reduced capacity, and will also require face masks for all team members and guests, with temperature checks at each entrance.

New Reservation System for Walt Disney World Resort

  • New reservations for tickets and hotel bookings are currently unavailable, as Disney is focusing on guests who are already booked
  • New reservations system will require advanced reservations for entering the park
  • Hotel reservations are still available at Four Seasons Orlando, Waldorf Astoria Orlando, and Ritz-Carlton Orlando
  • More details will be released on this later
For the time being, to control capacity at the parks, Disney will be changing the way that guests purchase tickets, reserve hotels, and enter the parks. For the near future, Disney is suspending new ticket sales and hotel bookings, and will be focusing on guests that already have reservations. This also means that current reservations cannot be changed or modified during this transition period, and we are not able to see pricing for future stays. After this initial phase, they will introduce a new reservation system for the parks that requires all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. More details on this reservation are coming soon, but the teams at My VIP Tour and Katie Bean Travels are monitoring for updates and will continue to publish updates as more information is released.

Of course, our wonderful partner properties such as the Four Seasons Orlando, the Waldorf Astoria Orlando, and the Ritz-Carlton Orlando are still open for bookings at any time. If you would like to inquire about a reservation at one of these properties, please feel free to reach out at any time and we would love to assist.
